RSCA Futures 5 Lommel SK 0
Big defeat for Lommel SK against RSCA Futures Wedstrijd - Verslag 15 feb Lommel SK endured a crushing defeat against RSCA Futures in Deinze. The Groen-Witten were already trailing 2-0 at half-time and pushed forward in search of a goal to get back into the game. However, this tactic proved costly for LSK, as three goals in just a few minutes sealed a resounding 5-0 final score.

Lommel SK started the match against RSCA Futures with two changes in the starting eleven compared to the previous game against Club NXT. Nicolás Siri was given his first start, replacing Alvaro Santos in the line-up. Yeboah Amankwah also returned to the starting squad, filling in for Dries Wouters, who was injured in the match against Club NXT. The team captain for Lommel was Joey Pelupessy.

At the former ground of KMSK Deinze, the home side started more dominantly. RSCA Futures maintained much of the possession, while LSK focused on holding their defensive lines. Around the 12th minute, the Green-Whites launched their first real attack. A superb cross from Diego Rosa was well met by Jason van Duiven, but the Dutchman’s header went narrowly wide.

A few minutes later, it was the other Lommel striker who had a chance. Nicolás Siri broke past the defence and took a shot, but his effort lacked power and failed to trouble goalkeeper Michiel Haentjes. At this stage, the home side was limited to minor threats, but that would soon change.

The first real danger from RSCA Futures arose from a goalmouth scramble in front of Ivezic’s net. A shot from Basile Vroninks was deflected multiple times, causing a moment of chaos, but LSK escaped unscathed. Half an hour into the match, Lommel SK had another good opportunity. Mohamed Salah won possession in midfield and played a fine through ball to Diego Rosa. The Brazilian attempted a shot from a difficult angle, but his effort found only the side netting.

Just minutes after Rosa’s chance, the deadlock was broken at the other end of the pitch. A long ball sailed over the LSK defence and was squared perfectly for Milan Robberechts, who had the simple task of slotting it past Ivezic: 1-0. After conceding, LSK struggled to regain composure, and the home side took full advantage. Moments later, the Green-Whites barely escaped another setback, but it was merely a delay. Just before half-time, RSCA Futures once again sliced through the Lommel defence. Ivezic managed to save the initial shot, but he was powerless to stop Keisuke Goto from converting the rebound: 2-0.

Following the second goal, RSCA Futures kept up the pressure, though LSK managed to prevent further damage before the break. The visitors went into the dressing rooms in Deinze trailing 2-0.

Blow After Blow

Lommel SK started the second half unchanged, while RSCA Futures made one substitution: Nunzio Engwanda replaced Marco Kana. Just seconds after the restart, Jason van Duiven was brought down inside the penalty area. LSK appealed for a penalty, but referee Calluy waved play on.

The first chances of the second half fell to the home side. After a cleared corner, RSCA Futures found a way back into the box, but the shot was comfortably dealt with by Ivezic. A few minutes later, another opportunity arose. Once again attacking down LSK’s right-hand side, the home team delivered a dangerous cross to Japanese striker Goto, but his shot flew high over the goal.

Around ten minutes into the second half, Ryan Garry made his first substitution. Filip Stevanovic, returning after a long absence, replaced Ibrahima Kebe. Lommel’s first real threat after the break came on the hour mark. Substitute Stevanovic beat his marker and delivered a cross to Van Duiven, whose header, however, was straight at the Brussels goalkeeper.

Shortly after, Van Duiven had another headed opportunity, this time a much clearer one. A brilliant cross from Mohamed Salah found the Lommel number 9 in space, but his powerful header lacked accuracy and went wide. Soon after, Ryan Garry made another change, bringing off Nicolás Siri for Leon Lalic.

Lalic made an immediate impact and came close to scoring. The Croatian skillfully cut inside and aimed for the near post. The goalkeeper was beaten, but the ball struck the wrong side of the net. Just as Lommel SK was finding a foothold in the match, they were hit on the counterattack. Japanese forward Goto broke free and fired in the third goal past Ivezic: 3-0.

Lommel’s misery did not end there. Following a free-kick, for which Yeboah Amankwah received a yellow card, Kaïs Barry curled the ball into the net to make it 4-0. With the visitors completely broken, RSCA Futures struck again less than a minute later. A cross from Goto was expertly headed in by Ibrahim Kanate: 5-0.

LSK had a late chance for a consolation goal, but Mohamed Salah’s effort sailed over the bar. With this defeat, Lommel SK suffers its eighth consecutive loss and sees RSCA Futures leapfrog them in the league standings.

Next week, Lommel SK plays the first of two consecutive home matches. On Saturday, 22nd February, SK Beveren will visit Soevereinstadion. The match kicks off at 16:00. Tickets are available via tickets.lommelsk.be.
