K Lierse SK 1 Lommel SK 0
Lommel SK suffers loss at Lierse Wedstrijd - Verslag 22 dec Lommel SK failed to get a result at the Lisp. In a rainy Lier, chances were scarce, but the home team managed to make the difference on the stroke of half-time. Steve Bould made one, forced, change in the starting eleven. After Henry Oware's rorde card against Zulte Waregem, Yvann Titi was allowed to show from the first whistle. Faniel Tewelde also made his return to the squad after months of injury. The Norwegian did start the game from the bench.

In a rather turbulent Lier, the first minutes were mainly a matter of waiting and seeing. Both teams mainly fought a battle in midfield. The home team had a number of opportunities to fire at Nikola Ivezic's goal, but our goalkeeper had few problems. At the other end, Jason van Duiven was dangerous. The Dutchman saw his effort narrowly saved at the corner.

While Lierse had the ball in the opening stages, Steve Bould's team took over more and more in the first half. However, the slippery pitch made good football almost impossible, so chances remained scarce. The half-time score of 0-0 seemed logical, but just before the whistle the home team suddenly took the lead. From about 18 metres Glenn Claes tried his luck and his shot was too powerful for Ivezic: 1-0.

No changes
The second half started with two unchanged teams. It was the home side who had the first big opportunity. After a cross, the Lierse striker was suddenly free in front of Ivezic, but our goalkeeper managed to tap the ball over the crossbar. The first danger from LSK came on the hour mark. Captain Lucas Schoofs tried his luck, but his shot splashed onto the post.

Just after this moment, Steve Bould intervened for the first time. Yeboah Amankwah and Alvaro Santos came into the squad. They replaced Kluiverth Aguilar and Mohamed Salah. After the substitution, Jason van Duiven went on the ticket. For the Dutchman it is his fifth yellow card, which means he will have to miss the home match against Royal Francs Borains.

In the second half Lierse started to restrict themselves more and more to holding back. Lommel SK increasingly gained control of the game and became more dangerous. A cross just failed to be converted by Schoofs. Despite a lot of ball possession, Lommel SK could not find the net in the end. So LSK went into the short winter break with a defeat.

It will not last long, however, as the first match of 2025 is already scheduled on Friday 10 January. At the Sovereign Stadium, Royal Francs Borains will then be the opponent. Information about this match will follow soon. Lommel SK wishes all supporters, sponsors and stakeholders happy holidays and a happy New Year!
