LSK sees point against leaders slip out of hands Wedstrijd - Verslag 14 dec For a long time it looked like LSK and the Challenger Pro League frontrunners, Zulte Waregem, were going to share the points deservedly. But in the closing stages, the visitors were still able to clinch victory.

Lommel SK started the match against Zulte Waregem virtually unchanged. Only Diego Rosa returned to the team after being unavailable against Patro Eisden. As a result, Ibrahima Kebe took a seat on the bench. In the first few minutes of the match, play mainly took place in midfield. The first moment of excitement was not even a goal chance, but a foul. Nikola Ivezic hoodwinked Zulte Waregem's striker, but was carried away in Traore's tackle. A card did not come for the guests' number ten.

The initiative eventually fell to LSK and also produced chances for Steve Bould's team. From a corner kick by Rosa, the ball got stuck in the goalmouth, after which Lucas Schoofs tried his luck with a chop. His effort was cleared off the goal line by a Waregem defender. Notabene in this phase, the visitors took the lead. After an excellent through ball, Traore found himself free in front of Ivezic. The Essevee striker managed to pass the Lommel goalkeeper with a low slide: 0-1.

Groen-Wit did not have to mourn for long, however, as Diego Rosa equalised less than a minute later. The Brazilian played himself free and took a devastating shot. The ball went straight into the cross. Goalkeeper Van Der Gouw had no chance: 1-1! It turned out to be the finale of a very interesting first half. After two minutes of extra time, both teams went to the dressing rooms with the score tied.

Defeat in the closing stages
Both teams started the second half of play without changes. The picture changed, however. The guests from Waregem were able to keep the ball in the team for longer and were stronger in the first minutes of the second half. This resulted in a number of dangerous moments in front of the Lommel goal, but no major chances were created. After about ten minutes, the game stabilised and LSK also started moving more and more towards the enemy goal.

It did result in a big chance for Groen-Wit. Mohamed Salah laid on and took a shot, but goalkeeper Van Der Gouw managed to turn the ball into a corner with an ultimate effort. On the hour, LSK got away well. A cross seemed to go in at once, but on the goal line Oware just managed to head the ball away. At the other end too, there was almost a lead to note. An excellent cross from Salah was headed at goal by substitute Ibrahima Kebe, but his header went just wide.

Just before time, LSK suffered a major blow. After a deep ball, Henry Oware made an extreme attempt to shoot the ball away. In his flight he hit his opponent, after which he was given an immediate red card. Steve Bould's team had to get through the final phase with 10 men. It proved to be a tipping point, as Essevee exploited the overtime situation going into added time. With a few minutes left to play, substitute Ferreira fired the visitors to 1-2 and the three points.
