Lommel SK and IK Sirius have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Zalán Vancsa. The Hungarian forward will join the leaders of Sweden's top division with immediate effect. Vancsa joined Lommel SK from MTK Budapest in the winter of 2022 before immediately returning to the Hungarian top-flight side on loan. In the summer of 2022, the then 17-year-old officially joined Groen-Wit.
After two impressive seasons, Vancsa spent the 2024 campaign on loan, first with KAA Gent and later with Roda JC Kerkrade. Last season, the Hungarian returned to Lommel and played a key role during the Promotion Play-Offs. Vancsa will forever be remembered as the player who settled the decisive play-off tie against FCV Dender EH and secured Lommel SK's promotion to the Jupiler Pro League.
Sporting Director Jeffrey van As commented on Vancsa's departure: "It is, of course, disappointing to see Zalán leave, but his transfer is also a testament to the development he has shown over the past few years. He arrived in Lommel as a 17-year-old, and since then he has made tremendous progress. The opportunity to compete for the Swedish title and European football is one we are delighted to see him take. We would like to thank Zalán for everything he has meant to Lommel SK and wish him every success at IK Sirius."
Zalán Vancsa reflected on his time at Lommel SK: "First of all, I want to thank everyone for four wonderful years. From day one, I felt at home and truly appreciated, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone at Lommel for that. I look back on my time here with great pride, and I'm especially proud that we achieved promotion to the Jupiler Pro League together. I would like to wish everyone at Lommel all the very best for the future, and hopefully our paths will cross again one day."
