Lommel SK brings Shawn Adewoye back to BelgiumMen03 augLommel SK have added Shawn Adewoye to their squad. The 26-year-old central defender joins the club on a free transfer and has signed a multi-year contract at the Soevereinstadion. Shawn Adewoye is the latest addition to the Lommel SK squad. The 26-year-old defender returns to Belgium after spending several seasons in the Netherlands. Adewoye came through the youth academy at KRC Genk, where he spent several years alongside current Lommel SK player Tom Reyners. He then went on to play for RKC Waalwijk and Fortuna Sittard, making a total of 139 Eredivisie appearances. His contract with Fortuna Sittard expired earlier this summer, allowing him to join Lommel SK as a free agent. Over the past few seasons, Adewoye established himself as a reliable presence in the heart of the defence while gaining valuable experience at the highest level of Dutch football.
Sporting Director Jeffrey van As commented on the signing of Adewoye: "With Shawn, we are bringing in a defender who knows what it takes to perform at the highest level and has gained a wealth of experience in the Eredivisie over the past few years. He brings physicality, leadership and composure on the ball. We are convinced that his qualities and mentality will enable him to play an important role within our squad."
Shawn Adewoye is looking forward to his new challenge in green and white: "I'm delighted to be returning to Belgium and joining Lommel SK. From the very first conversations, I had a great feeling about the club's plans and ambitions. I see this as an environment where I can continue to develop while also using my experience to help the team. I can't wait to meet the supporters and work together with the squad towards a successful season."
