Lommel SK honored in Huis van de StadPromotion24 mayLommel SK visited Mayor Bob Nijs and the college with the entire selection on Sunday morning. A final conclusion to a historic weekend. May 23, 2026 will forever go down in the history books of Lommel SK and the City of Lommel. On this day, the Groen-Wit managed to secure a historic return to the Jupiler Pro League. After 23 years, Lommel can once again prepare for first-class football at the Gestelsedijk.
After a nice celebration on the evening itself with our supporters, the club was welcomed on Sunday morning in Huis van de Stad by Mayor Bob Nijs and the board. A gift was presented from the city to our CEO Mattijs Manders, to emphasize the bond between club and city. Captain Lucas Schoofs was also put in the spotlight.
After beautiful speeches by the Mayor and Mattijs Manders, there was also a surprise. Salim Seghers, the man behind the song 'Lommel is Boven!' came up with a new version of his classic, which could be heard in the Sovereign Stadium in recent matches. Together with the group of players, his new version was performed. The club will soon also play this new version at the Gestelsedijk, when we make our comeback at the highest level!
