After more than 360 professional appearances, Wuytens is hanging up his boots. Despite his contract expiring this summer, he will continue to be active at the club he has represented for the past five years. Wuytens will take over the role of Academy Director from Kristof Van Hout with immediate effect.
Sporting Director Jeffrey van As commented on the appointment: “We really wanted to keep Stijn at Lommel SK. He has built up a wealth of experience and has meant a lot to our club over the past five years, despite struggling with injuries. Stijn has great ideas on how to elevate our youth academy, and of course, he knows the club inside out. We are very happy that Stijn is staying with LSK!”
Stijn Wuytens himself is proud to take on this new role: “I thought long and hard about what I wanted—whether to continue playing or to focus on a post-football career. During that period, the club made it clear they wanted to keep me, and that gave me a lot of confidence. I'm very happy and proud to become Head of Youth Academy at the club where I used to sit in the stands as a young boy. I look forward to working with everyone involved in the academy and taking it to the next level!”
