Lommel SK has rewarded Josias Lama with his first professional contract. The 20-year-old defender had been training with the first team for some time and made his debut in January during the home match against Royal Francs Borains. He also got minutes in the Limburg derby against Patro Eisden. His hard work is now being rewarded with a professional contract.
“A first professional contract is a dream come true,” said a very proud Lama. “For years, you work hard to reach this goal. Training with the first team and eventually making my debut at home was already an incredible moment. But now signing a professional contract is an amazing reward. I’m incredibly thankful to everyone, especially at the youth academy, who helped me reach this moment!”
Sporting director Jeffrey van As praised the youngster’s work ethic: “Josias has held his own during a very difficult period. It’s not easy to break through as a youth player during a challenging time for the team. Josias has done an excellent job. It’s also important for the club that academy players get opportunities in the first team. With Josias, we not only gain a good player but also a great ambassador for our youth academy!”
