Jeffrey van As is the new Sporting Director of Lommel SK. The 53-year-old Dutchman is a former professional player and has held comparable sporting positions at NAC Breda, ADO Den Haag and Roda JC Kerkrade. His extensive network in both the Netherlands and Belgium and his track record in talent development align with Lommel SK’s ambitions.
“Lommel SK is a club with ambition and a clear vision,” Van As begins proudly. “The club wants to step up to a higher level and fight for promotion—an opportunity that really excites me. I look forward to working with the staff, players and, above all, the supporters to keep building this club!”
Van As takes over from James McCarron, who leaves Lommel SK after three and a half years to pursue a new challenge within City Football Group as Director of Player Development.
“I am extremely proud of what we have achieved over the past years: professionalising the football department, developing talented players and creating many meaningful moments for our players, staff and supporters. A new challenge within City Football Group now awaits, but I will continue to follow Lommel SK with great interest. I wish everyone in Lommel all the best for the future,” McCarron said.
CEO Mattijs Manders also commented on the change: “As a club we want to take the next step, and we are convinced Jeffrey is the right person to drive our ambitions forward. James has laid a solid foundation on which we can continue to build, and we thank him for his years of dedication. We wish him a lot of success!”
