For years, the City Football Academy has been a household concept within the City Football Group. A lot has changed at Lommel SK since 2020, but a new training facility has always remained a big wish. That wish is now becoming reality. By the end of 2025, the complex should be in use.
CEO of Lommel SK, Mattijs Manders, sees this symbolic moment as a next step in the development of the club and the region: "In recent years, Lommel SK has made great progress, both on and off the pitch. However, a good training complex, which meets the high standards of a top football company, was still missing. That will now change."
"As a club, we are proud that we were able to realise this in a relatively short time and would like to thank all involved for the fine and decisive cooperation. With the arrival of the City Football Academy, we will soon be able to offer our players everything they need to strengthen the club's ambitions."
Mayor Bob Nijs is also proud of the cooperation between the club and the city: "The start of the construction of this new training complex is an important milestone for Lommel SK as well as for our city. It will be a place where talented youngsters will get the chance to develop. This complex will further put Lommel on the map as a place where sport and ambition go hand in hand. As part of Park De Soeverein, this is a wonderful addition to our sports infrastructure."
